Through his Running 101 (formerly ‘couch’ to 10K) programs he has helped over 5,000 runners complete a 5K or 10K and many hundreds more have gone on to greater distances up to and including the marathon. He has coached and mentored runners for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Arthritis Foundation’s Joints in Motion, Make A Wish Foundation’s Dream Team of runners (founder/creator), and the Bell Center’s ‘Bell Runners’; helping these organizations raise hundreds of thousands of dollars. He has assisted numerous churches as well as other charitable organizations including but not limited to the American Cancer Society, Big Brothers Big Sisters, YMCA as well as local chambers of commerce and other organizations.
He is coach, mentor, therapist, and friend to thousands of runners around the region, helping many to discover and realize their potential in running and in life. All the while encouraging them all to have fun while they set sail to new lands of discovery.
“I just wanted to thank you again for being such a great running coach and providing so much inspiration. I still think about all the things you taught us when I am out there running. Your program really enriched my life in a wonderful way.” J.C.
